Most agencies answer this with "it depends". Here is what actually drives the number, the ranges you should expect in the Indonesian market, and how to compare two quotes that look nothing alike.
Ask three agencies in Indonesia what a website costs and you will get three versions of the same non-answer: it depends. It is not a lie — it genuinely does depend — but it is a useless place to start when you are trying to budget.
So here is the direct version. A company profile website in Indonesia typically runs Rp 2–15 juta. A web application with logins, dashboards and a database typically runs Rp 20–80 juta. Below is what moves a project between those numbers, and what to check before you sign anything.
What actually drives the price
Almost every quote you receive is really a sum of five things:
- Page count and layout variety. Ten pages that share two templates cost far less than five pages that are each designed from scratch. Layout variety, not page count, is the real driver.
- Custom design vs template. A bought template with your logo dropped in is the cheapest possible route. A design drawn for your brand takes design hours before a single line of code exists.
- Integrations. A contact form is trivial. Payment gateways, WhatsApp API, accounting software, shipping couriers, an existing ERP — each one is a separate contract with someone else's system, and each one is where estimates usually go wrong.
- Content management. "The client can edit it themselves" sounds free. It is not: every editable region needs a field, a validation rule, and a preview.
- Who is doing the work. A freelancer, a four-person studio, and a fifty-person agency have very different overheads, and you are paying for those overheads either way.
Typical price ranges in the Indonesian market
These are the ranges we see quoted around us. They are not a survey — treat them as orientation, not gospel, and always get your own quotes.
| Type of build | Typical range | Usual timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Template company profile | Rp 1–4 juta | 1–2 weeks |
| Custom company profile | Rp 3–15 juta | 2–6 weeks |
| E-commerce (off-the-shelf platform) | Rp 5–20 juta | 3–8 weeks |
| Custom web application / dashboard | Rp 20–80 juta | 2–5 months |
| CRM, ERP, internal systems | Rp 20–200 juta+ | 3–12 months |
For reference, our own published prices sit inside those bands: company profile websites from Rp 3 juta and custom CRM/ERP platforms from Rp 20 juta. We publish them because a number you can plan against is more useful than a number you have to extract.
The costs that are not in the quote
The build price is not the total price. Budget for these separately:
- Domain — roughly Rp 150–500 thousand per year for a
.comor.id. - Hosting — Rp 500 thousand to Rp 5 juta per year for a company profile; more once you have a database and real traffic.
- SSL certificate — usually free now via Let's Encrypt. If someone is charging you separately for basic SSL, ask why.
- Maintenance — updates, backups, security patches. Either you budget for it, or you discover the cost the first time something breaks.
- Content — copywriting, photography, translation. Frequently the single most underestimated line, and the most common reason projects slip.
Why two quotes for "the same" site differ by 10×
Because they are usually not the same site. When you receive a Rp 2 juta quote and a Rp 20 juta quote for what you described identically, the difference is almost always in things that were never written down. Ask every bidder the same five questions:
- Is the design custom, or a purchased template?
- Who owns the source code and the design files when we are done?
- What exactly happens when we ask for something outside the agreed scope?
- What is included after launch, and for how long?
- Can we edit content ourselves, and which parts?
Whoever answers those clearly is usually the safer bet, regardless of which end of the range they sit at. A cheap quote that omits code ownership and post-launch support is not cheap — it is incomplete.
Is cheap actually cheaper?
Sometimes, genuinely. If you need four pages online this month to look credible to a client, a template build at Rp 2 juta is a rational purchase and we would tell you so.
It stops being rational when the site is load-bearing for your business. The common failure pattern we get called in to fix looks like this: a very cheap site is built, nobody can update it, it is not indexed, it is slow on a phone, and eighteen months later it is rebuilt from scratch. The total is higher than doing it once properly — and a year and a half of enquiries were lost in between.
So what should you budget?
A workable rule of thumb: decide what the website is for first, then pick the band.
- Credibility only — someone Googles your company and needs to see you exist: Rp 2–5 juta.
- Active sales channel — the site is expected to produce enquiries: Rp 5–20 juta, plus ongoing content work.
- Operational system — the business runs on it daily: Rp 20 juta and up, and treat it as software, not marketing.
If you want a specific number rather than a band, tell us what you are trying to build. The scoping call is free, we reply within 24 hours, and you will get either a number or a straight question — not "it depends".
